WHEN THE FLAGS GO UP..... As a resident and part of the management team of a local resort, I will be among the first to be allowed back in the area after a tropical storm or hurricane passes. I will also be in contact with local officials and the management companies of other local properties and resorts before and during the event, and so will be able to provide accurate, non-sensationalized updates on the status of the area before, during and after the storm. During Hurricane Ivan, I was the source and voice of The Beach Club Owner Hurricane Hotline, and kept owners informed before, during and after Ivan--from its entry into the Gulf until The Beach Club was "back up" and receiving guests and owners again. Likewise, during and following Katrina and Rita, I posted ongoing "Storm 'Blog" updates with accompanying photos of the area on my website (since archived) and gave notice of updates on AL.com’s Gulf Shores’ Forum. I will be blogging similar updates of any future tropical events. You can read my Storm 'blog by simply opening my website and going to this “Heavy Weather” page. If you have a specific property or area you would like some news on, just send me an email using the CONTACT button at the top of the page, and I will endeavor to get whatever news I can about it. But, in the blessed absence of any "Heavy Weather," or in between my updates if we are in a Storm Watch, you may find the sites below to be useful... (note: you will need to use the "back" button on your browser to get back to this site after you have visited any of the sites below)...
The Weather Channel... For basic information about current and predicted conditions in Gulf Shores Local (Mobile APO) Radar ...to see where any weather is around Mobile Bay and vicinity, and where it is going. This is an animation "loop" requiring a JAVA plug-in for your browser (it is free if you don't have it...just Google(c) "JAVA." The National Hurricane Center ...THE authority on Tropical Weather....that's all these guys do. Check out the graphics, but don't forget to read the "DISCUSSIONS." Central Florida Hurricane Center ...a site where Florida and Gulf Coast meteorologists, both amateur and professional, "noodle the storms" in blogs available to members...membership is free, and it's a great way to pick the minds of the pros and some really insightful amateurs! There are also Forums you can read and personally contribute to. Skeetobite Weather ...this site has some of the best graphics I've ever seen. In a glance, you can see the projected path and the relative strength of the storm in its different quadrants as it moves along its path. Fascinating and worth the visit. .just click on this line to return to my HOMEpage. :: Featured Properties :: All Listings :: Recently Sold :: Community Profiles :: Search Our MLS :: Buyer's Resources :: Monthly Payment Calculator :: Dream House Finder :: Free Buyer Reports :: Seller's Resources :: Market Analysis :: Free Seller Reports :: Calculators :: Mortgage Rates :: Credit Report :: Weather :: LOCAL RESOURCES AND AMENITIES :: Heavy Weather Blog :: Marketplace :: Newsletter :: LINKS :: Other :: Personal Info :: Testimonials :: Contact :: Guest Book :: An Equal Opportunity Company.
